During high school, Clayton rowed for the St. Louis Rowing Club. She finished second at Midwest Junior Championships in 2005 and at Canadian Henley in 2003. She has won the William Woods University Vaulting Festival three times from 2000 to 2002.

During her first season at Yale, Berkley finished third at Eastern Sprints and first at the Head of the Lake. She is a sophomore in Trumbull College.
