Wixted attended Moorestown High School where she rowed for four years and was captain of the varsity her senior season. Moorestown started a rowing program in 2000 and has grown quickly. Wixted competed at Scholastic Nationals and Stotesbury four years. She was also a varsity swimmer for three years during high school.

In 2005 she attended the Bulldog Rowing Camp at Yale and impressed the coaching staff. At Yale, she is a freshman in Ezra Stiles college.
